The
Pearly Gates by Gary Farmer
I stood there looking at
those magnificent gates,
Should I walk right in or stand here and wait?
I decided to knock and see who would appear.
No one answered and I started to fear.
I looked all around as I stood on this cloud,
why was I so far away from the crowd?
An image appeared, dressed in white from head to toe.
He began to speak in a voice deep and low,
"It's not your time yet, you really must go,
go back to your home and tell all your woes.
Tell them your story and how you
survived.
Tell them not to give up, that
they must not let go.
Show them your talents, as best as you can,
the one that I gave you, about the sea and the sand.
When your time has come, you won't be late.
You will stand here again, then,
and I will open these pearly gates."
